How to Set A Background Picture in PowerPoint 2013

We have all come to the point that we appreciate the PowerPoint templates in Office, but sometimes we are not quite satisfied with the appearance of the presentation. All we want to do is to set a customized image or photo as a background picture in PowerPoint, either for the current slide that we are editing of for all the slides in our presentation.

Below I will describe how this can be done by using PowerPoint 13.

First of all we must open the presentation and then move on to the slide that the background needs to be customized.

Then we must select the Design tab and from the right area of the ribbon named Customize we select the command Format Background as shown in the image below.

Design - Customize - Format Background

Once the Format Background command is selected the Format Background task pane appears at the right part of our PowerPoint screen as we can see in the image below. By default the Fill icon (bucket) is selected, where under the category Fill we must activate the check box Picture or Texture Fill. Then we must select the File button under the area Insert Picture From as shown in the image below.

Format Background

Once the File command is selected the Insert Picture dialog box appears where we just select the image that we want to use as background and then select the Insert button at the bottom of the dialog box as shown in the image below.

Insert Picture

If we want the image to be used as a background for all the slides, at the bottom of the Format Background task pane we select the command Apply To All as shown below, otherwise the image will be used as a background for the current selected slide(s).

Apply to All

If we want our background to be more artistic, we can select the third icon under the Format Background task pane, which is named Picture Corrections and experiment with all the commands available until we achieve the desired result, as we can see in the image below.
