Add Voting Buttons In Outlook

Do you want to create a poll in Outlook by including voting buttons in a message that we plan to send to the recipients? Then, once the recipients reply their votes get delivered in our Inbox.

Follow the steps below, describing how to create a poll in Outlook.

First of all we must create a New Email. For that to be done we must press the New Email button which is located on the New area of the ribbon as shown in the image below.

New Mail

We can either compose our mail now or later and the same stands about the recipients for our Email message. Then we have to select the Options tab and from the area of the ribbon named Tracking we select the command Use Voting Buttons as shown below. Once selected the drop down menu appears with some predefined Voting expressions which are:

  • Approve; Reject
  • Yes; No
  • Yes; No; Maybe

We can select either one of them and that is it. Once we send our message, the recipient (s) that will receive the email will be asked to vote.

If we are not satisfied with the predefined expressions we can always select from the drop down menu the command Custom.

Use Voting Buttons

Once selected the Properties window appears as we can see below. Then from the Voting and Tracking Options area, we activate the check box at the left of the command Use Voting Buttons and then we move our cursor in the text pane at the right and start typing our new expressions. In the example below I have typed as expressions, Definitely, Of Course Not as shown in the image below. Once finished we just press the Close button at the bottom right corner of the Properties window.

Properties

Straight away we return to our Email, and we notice above the headers that We Have Added Voting Buttons To This Message as shown below.

Message

That is it, we just send our email and once our recipients receive the mail they will be asked to vote as shown in the image below.

The informational area mentions: This Message Includes Voting Buttons. Click Here To Vote.

Includes Voting Buttons

All we have to do is to click on the Informational Area and straight away the expressions that have been typed appear as we can see in the image below. In order to vote, we just click on one of the expressions.

Vote

Once we click on one of the expressions the Microsoft Outlook Warning window appears. In this window we are informed with which expression we have chosen, and we can either Send The Response Now or Edit The Response Before Sending

Microsoft Outlook Dialog Box

If we select Send The Response Now and then click on the OK button we will receive an email with the recipients answer. If we select Edit The Response Before Sending and then the OK button th email will appear, where we can edit it and then send the answer.

Below you can check out the video describing how to use the Vote buttons in Outlook.
