Display Options For Comments In Excel 13
Do you want to control the options on how or when Comments appear in your spreadsheet? Do you want the Comments to appear all the time, or not at all in your spreadsheet? In order to control the options on how or when Comments will appear you must follow the steps below:
First of all we must select the cell that we want to add the Comment and then select the Review tab. Then from the area of the ribbon named Comments, we press the New Comment button as shown in the image below.
Once we press the New Comment button, a floating square appears at the right of the selected cell, with a green arrow indicating the cell where the comment will be added. In the floating square we notice the Authors Name, and all we have to do is to type in the comment that we want.
Once we finish typing our Comment, if we move around in our spreadsheet, we notice a small red triangle located at the top right corner of the cell, which notifies us that in this cell there is a Comment as shown in the image below. Whenever we will hover over the cell, the Comment will appear, showing us the text that we had typed previously.
Now we are offered with a variety of choices considering Comments in Excel. In order to locate these choices we must select the File tab in order to move to backstage view, and then from the left of the drop down menu that appears we select the category Options as shown in the image below.
Once selected the Excel Options dialog box appears, where from the left of the dialog box we select the Advanced category as shown in the image below. Once selected we scroll down in the dialog box until we locate the Display area as we can see in the image below.
Under the Display area we notice the following: For Cells With Comments, Show: and the following three commands.
No Comments Or Indicators
Indicators Only, And Comments On Hover
Comments And Indicators
If we activate the check box next to No Comments Or Indicators command, we will not be able to view the comments or indicators in our spreadsheet.
If we activate the check box next to Indicators Only, And Comments On Hover command, the Indicator will be shown always, and whenever we hover over it the Comment will appear.
If we activate the check box next to Comments And Indicators, the Comments and Indicators will always appear in our spreadsheet no matter if we hover over it or not.
If we have selected the command No Comments Or Indicators, in order to view the Comments in our spreadsheet we must select the Review tab and then from the area of the ribbon named Comments we must select the Show All Comments command as shown in the image below and all the Comments in the spreadsheet will be revealed.
