Add A Dictionary In Word 13
Posted by officesmart
In previous posts of mine I mentioned how to Add A Word in the Custom Dictionary and how can we Edit the Custom Dictionary. What do we do though when we want to Add a Dictionary in Word, such as a Chemistry one, or a Physics one or any other one that we want? All we have to do is to follow the steps below. (For the example I have download a Chemistry dictionary from Internet.)
First of all we must select the File tab in order to move to backstage view and then from the drop menu that appears we select the category Options from the bottom left corner of the drop down menu.
Once the category Options is selected the Word Options dialog box appears as shown in the image below. Then from the left of the dialog box we select the category Proofing and then from the middle of the dialog box we scroll down until we locate the area which mentions:
When Correcting Spelling In Microsoft Office Programs
Once located we select the Custom Dictionaries button which is located at the bottom of the areas as shown in the image below.
Once selected the Custom Dictionaries window appears. Here we notice under the area Dictionary List, all the languages that we have installed, such as Greek and English and other information. In this window we select the Add button which is located at the middle right corner of the window.
Once the Add button is selected the Add Custom Dictionary appears where we have to navigate in order to find where the dictionary that we want to add is located. Once we have located it, we select it and then press the Open button which is located at the bottom right corner of the window as shown in the image below.
That is it the, Chemistry.dictionary is added in the Custom Dictionaries. In the image below the Chemistry Dictionary is highlighted and right below we can notice the File Path: of the dictionary that we just added as shown in the image below.
At the right of the Custom Dictionaries we can use the Remove button in order to remove the dictionary that we just added in the Custom Dictionaries just in case we made a mistake or we don’t want to use it anymore. In the image below I have selected the Edit Word List button which is located at the top right corner of the Custom Dictionaries window in order to show an example of the Chemistry dictionary that I just added in Word 13.
With the same procedure we can install more dictionaries. If we add a dictionary in Word, it will also be available in the rest of the Microsoft Office Programs, so we don’t have to worry about repeating the same process over and over again.
Below you can check out the video on how to install a dictionary in Word 13.
