Show Ruler, Gridlines, Guides And Notes in PowerPoint 13
In PowerPoint 13 we can use the Ruler in order to measure objects in our slide. We can use Gridlines to identify the center of our slide or use Guides in order to position shapes and objects more precisely in our slide. We can also use Notes so we can quickly add a note in order for us to remember something that we must mention during our Presentation. For us to display all of these we must follow the steps described below.
First of all we must select the View tab and then we locate the area of the ribbon named Show, as we can see in the image below. In this area, we have the following options to activate or deactivate:
Ruler: If we activate the check box at the left of the command, the Ruler will be displayed next to our presentation. We can see and set the tabs, move table borders and line up object in our presentation.
Gridlines: If we activate the check box at the left of the command, gridlines will appear in the background of our presentation so we can perfectly place objects in our presentation.
Guides: If we activate the check box at the left of the command, adjustable drawing guides will appear in our presentation where we can align objects in our presentation.
Notes: If we click on the Notes button, the Notes Pane will appear at the bottom of our slide where we can add speaker notes to our slides for quick reference during a presentation. The Notes Pane will appear below our slide in Normal and Outline View, and next to the slide in Presenter View.
If we select the bottom right arrow located at the Show area, the Grid and Guide window will appear where we can customize the settings for the grid and the alignment guides in our presentation.
In the image below, I have activated the Ruler, and the Ruler appears at the top and the left of our slide.
In the image below, I have activated the Gridlines, and we notice that the Gridlines appear in our slide.
In the image below, I have activated the Guides, and we notice that the Guides appear in our slide.
In the image below, I have pressed on the Notes button, and we notice that the Notes Pane appears at the bottom of our slide.
At the Show area, if we select the bottom right arrow the Grids And Guides window appears as we can see in the image below. In this window we can positions shapes or objects to the closest intersection of the grid. Under Snap To we can activate the check box next to the command Snap Objects To Grid. We can also arrange the Grid Settings and define the Spacing by using the measurements at the side. If we want to see the grid on our screen, under Grid Settings we can activate the check box next to the command Display Grid On Screen.
Under Guide Settings we can activate or deactivate the following commands:
Display Drawing Guides On Screen – If we want to see the Guides on our screen, we can activate this command.
Display Smart Guides When Shapes Are Aligned – if objects are aligned, smart guides will appear on our screen.
Once we have done the adjustments that we want, we can press the Set As Default button which is located at the bottom left corner of the window, and all the adjustments that we made will be set as default. We can also press the OK button for the current settings will be used only for this presentation or press the Cancel button in order for the adjustments not to take place.
