Notes Master View In PowerPoint 13

As mentioned in one of my previous posts in PowerPoint we have a few views available where we can modify our presentations. These Views modify different things that are in our presentation. In this post, I will describe the Notes Master View.

In order to check out the Notes Master View, we must select the View tab and then from the area of the ribbon we locate the area named Master Views and we select the command Notes Master as shown in the image below.

What does Notes Master View do? We can customize how our presentation will look printed out with our notes. We can choose the design and layout of the notes page, such as the background formatting and where the headers and footers will appear. We also have page setup options where we can select.

Notes Master

The Notes Master tab is separated by the following areas on the ribbon:

  • Body: We can include a separate box with the slide text on the notes page.

Edit Theme:

  • Theme: We can change the theme of our presentation. Each theme uses its own unique set of colors, fonts and effects to create the overall look of our slides.

  • Colors: We can quickly change all the colors used by picking a different color from the palette.
  • Fonts: We can quickly change the text by picking a new font set.
  • Effects: We can quickly change the general look of objects.
  • Background Styles: We can choose a background style.
  • Hide Background Graphics: We can hide any graphics on this slide that are part of the background theme.

  • Close Master View: We can go back to editing our slide show.

We can type and format our notes when we are working in Normal View as shown in the image below, but in order for us to see how our notes page will be printed and to see any text formatting that we have applied we must switch to Notes Page View. We can also check out the Headers and Footers.

Comments Pane

While in Notes Page View, on each notes page we have a thumbnail of our slide, together with notes that are followed by the slide as shown in the image below. Whatever changes and additions or deletions we make on the notes page are applied only to the notes page and not in Normal View.
