Office Updates via Backstage View
When we have installed Microsoft Office 2013 and Office 2016, with the Click To Run way, the updates for Office are done automatically, when the new updates are available. However, in the Account section of our product, we can manually manage the updates by either installing them or disabling them or learning about them. In this post I will describe the Office Updates feature in Microsoft Word 2016.
First of all we must select the File tab in order to move to Backstage View. Once in Backstage View from the left of the drop down menu we select the category Account as shown in the image below. At the left of the menu and under the area Product Information we notice the Update Options command.
Once we select the Update Options command as shown in the image below, the drop down menu appears with the following commands in order to choose from:
Update Now: Once we select this command we can check and apply the updates for all the Office Programs.
Disable Updates: Once we select this command we will not update for security, performance and reliability.
View Updates: Once we select this command we will see our history update for the current product.
About Updates: Once we select this command we will learn more about updates.
In the image below, I have selected the Update Now command from the drop down menu. Once the searching for updates is finished, a window appears notifying us that we are up to date.
In the image below, I have selected the Disable Updates command from the drop down menu. Immediately, a Microsoft Warning Dialog Box appears, informing us if we want to make changes. If we agree, the Office Updates command will be disabled as shown in the image below.
If we select the View Updates command from the drop down menu, the Support Office web page will appear, where we will be notified about the detail Updates for the current month as shown in the image below.
If we select the About Updates command from the drop down menu, a new window will appear as shown in the image below, which provides us with information about Updates, on how they are downloaded and installed.
In the image below, we can see the Update Options command for Outlook 2016.
