What Is The Touch/Mouse Mode Feature Available in Microsoft Office Applications?

A new feature available in Microsoft Office applications, is the Touch/Mouse Mode. What does this feature do? It increases or leaves the same, the spacing between the commands of the ribbon in Microsoft Office applications. Touch Mode lets us use the program even without a mouse if our device supports it by increasing the spacing. Mouse Mode lets us use the program with our mouse. In the next image I have selected the drop-down menu at the right of the Quick Access Toolbar. Once the drop-down menu appears, I locate and select the command Touch/Mouse Mode as shown in the image below.  There are many commands there to select from, if we want to add them to the Quick Access Toolbar.

Quick Access Toolbar Commands

Once the Touch/Mouse Mode command is activated and located at the Quick Access Toolbar, if we select the command, we have the following two options to select from and which are the following:

  • Mouse: Standard Ribbon and commands, which are Optimized For Use With the Mouse.

In the next image Microsoft Word application is running, and the Mouse Mode feature is activated, and all the spacing of the commands and icons are as they were, so we can use our Mouse.
