How To Change The Size and the Orientation of a PowerPoint Slide?

Slides in PowerPoint are automatically set up in Landscape Layout, but we can change the Orientation of the Slide to a Portrait Layout. In PowerPoint we cannot resize the Size of one Slide in a Presentation. All the Sizes in a Presentation are the same Size. The same applies for the Orientation of the Slides in a Presentation. To change the Size and the Orientation or event to create our own Custom Size Slide, just keep on reading the post below.

Change Orientation of Slides in PowerPoint

We must select the Design tab and then from the right area of the ribbon we locate the area named Customize as shown below.

Design Tab - Customize Area

Once we locate the Customize area of the Design tab, we select the command Slide Size as shown in the image below. Once selected the drop-down menu appears, where we can change the Size of the Slide in the following two default Sizes which are the following:

  • Standard (4:3)
  • Widescreen (16:9)

For us to make the custom adjustments that we need, we must select the Custom Slide Size command, which is located at the bottom of the drop-down menu as we can see in the image below.

Once the Custom Slide Size command is selected the Slide Size dialog box appears which is separated in the following areas:

If we want to create our own Custom Slide Size, we can change the Width and the Height of the actual Slide and we can define from which slide the Numbering of the Slides will begin from by adjusting the Number Slides From command to what we want.

At the right of the Slide Size dialog box we can change the Orientation of either the Slides or either the Notes, Handouts & Outline to Portrait or Landscape. All we need to do is to activate the check box at the left of the command and then press the Ok button for the changes to take place.
