How To Insert A Cover Page In A Microsoft Word Document?
A Cover Page makes our Document more professional. It introduces the Main Document that follows with a Title, with an Image or our own Logo and it provides us related information about the actual Document. Microsoft Word offers us Templates to use for our Cover Page.

In the image below I have opened the Document that I want to Insert a Cover Page. Then I selected the Insert tab of the ribbon and located the area at the left named Pages.
From the area of the ribbon named Pages, I just select the command Cover Page as shown. From the drop-down menu that appears we can see all the Built-in Cover Pages that are available for us to use. We have a thumbnail preview of them, and if we hover over them, we will have a brief description also. For example, in the image below the one that is highlighted is named Banded and the description is Bold Color Bands With Large Title And Reverse Contact Info Text.
At the bottom of the drop-down menu, we can use the command More Cover Pages From Office.com. Once selected, we will see at the right more Cover Pages for us to use.
We then just select the Cover Page that we want by clicking on it and the Cover Page has been inserted in the Document. No matter, which Page is activated or where our cursor is located, the Cover Page will be inserted as the First Page of the Document.
If by any reason, we want to Remove the Cover Page, we must select the command Cover Page from the Pages area of the Insert ribbon and from the drop-down menu that appears we just select the command Remove Current Cover Page as shown below.
When we add a Cover Page, Microsoft Word excludes the Header and Footer from it, and it does not include it in the Page Numbering.
