Did you know that we can Send a time sensitive EMail Message in Microsoft Outlook? Did you know that we can set an Expiration Date on a EMail Message in Microsoft Outlook? By setting an Expiration Date on an E-Mail Message we prompt the Recipients of the Message to not waste time responding to the Message after the deadline has passed. How to Set An Expiration Date on a Email Message in Microsoft Outlook

First, we must create a New E-Mail Message and then select the Options tab of the ribbon. Once selected, at the far right we locate the area named More Options and then select the button at the bottom right corner of the area as shown in the image below, where we can Show the Message Options dialog box, so we can Change Advanced Options for this E-Mail Message, such as the Message Category and Security Settings.

Once selected, the Properties dialog box appears with a variety of settings that we can make, that has got to do with the E-Mail Message as shown below.

As mentioned, for this post we are talking about Delivery Options, so at the bottom of the Properties dialog box we locate the area named Delivery Options. All that is left to do, is to activate the check box at the left of the command Expires After and then adjust the Date and the Time that the Message will Expire. Once finished, we just press the Close button which is located at the bottom right corner of the dialog box.

Once the Message has been sent and Expired seeing that the Date and Time has passed, the Message will still be visible in our Inbox, but it will be with a strikethrough. We will be able to still open it, but the strikethrough means that the Message is out of Date and no longer relevant.
